Important Roster Rules

Qualifying for World Tournament Play
Men’s C & Above Classes – for a bid to the World Tournament, 4 ways:
(1) NIT or Super NIT Berth:
You must win an NIT & also play in your respective State Tournament. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of the NIT tournament won.
(2) State At-Large Berth – State Tournament Champion:
You must play in four tournaments that include your respective State Tournament, one NIT, one other qualifier and have a minimum of 200 points. The State Champion berth roster becomes frozen upon completion of the state tournament.
(3) State-At Large Birth - Highest Ranked (Points) Team:
You must play in six tournaments that include your respective State Tournament, one NIT, at least two other qualifiers and have a minimum of 200 points. The States’ Highest Ranked Points Team will be awarded the berth & but your roster will become frozen at the completion of your state tournament.
(4) State-At Large Berth – 7 tournaments played:
You must play in seven USSSA events that include your respective State & National Tournament, and one NIT. Five of those tournaments must be in NJ.
Men’s D Programs – for a bid to the World Tournament, four ways:
(1) NIT or Super NIT Berth:
You must win an NIT & also play in your respective State & National Tournament. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of the NIT tournament won.
(2) State At-Large Berth – State Tournament Champion:
You must play in four tournaments that include your respective State & National Tournament, one NIT, one other qualifier and have a minimum of 200 points. The State Champion berth roster becomes frozen upon completion of the state tournament.
(3) Northeast National Tournament Champion:
There will be berth’s awarded at the National Tournament. However, to earn a National Tournament Berth you must play in three previous tournaments including your respective State Tournament, one NIT, one other qualifier and have a minimum of 200 points. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of your state tournament.
(4) State-At Large Berth – 7 tournaments played:
You must play in seven USSSA events that include your respective State & National Tournament, and one NIT. Five of those tournaments must be in NJ.
Men’s E Program – for a bid to the World Tournament, five ways
(1) NIT or Super NIT Berth:
You must win an NIT & also play in your respective State & National Tournament. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of the NIT tournament won.
(2) Northeast National Tournament Champion:
There will be berth’s awarded at the National Tournament. However, to earn a National Tournament Berth you must play in three previous tournaments including your respective State Tournament, one NIT, one other qualifier and have a minimum of 200 points. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of your state tournament.
(3) State-At Large Berth - Highest Ranked (Points) Team:
You must play in six tournaments that include your respective State & National Tournament, one NIT, three other qualifiers and have a minimum of 200 points. The States’ Highest Ranked Points Team will be awarded the berth & but your roster will become frozen at the completion of your state tournament.
(4) Qualifier-At Large Berth – Qualifier Berth
An “E” Team can win a berth at any E qualifier provided there are 8 teams. They will still need to participate in the state & National Tournament. Roster will be frozen May 15th or 1 week after winning the berth.
(5) State-At Large Berth – 7 tournaments played:
You must play in seven USSSA events that include your respective State & National Tournament, and one NIT.
Women’s Program
(1) NIT Berth:
You must win an NIT & also play in your respective State & National Tournament. Your roster will become frozen at the completion of the NIT tournament won.
(2) State At-Large Berth – State Tournament Champion:
You must play in two tournaments that include your respective State & National Tournament. The State Champion berth roster becomes frozen upon completion of the state tournament.
(3) State At-Large Berth – Participation Award:
You must play in the state tournament and 2 other qualifier events
Mixed/Coed (1) – for a berth to the World Tournament, you must play in the
NJ State Tournament & one other NJ qualifying tournament. Your roster will be frozen July 15th or 1 week after earning your berth.
Specialty Programs (1) – You must participate in the NJ State Tournament or be given approval by NJ program director
